Hello and thank you for stopping by. This is
the website for the Croydon Deanery Youth Project. This is
an area within
the Catholic Diocese of Southwark.
Youth ministry is an age-specific religious
ministry and is the way in which a faith group, or other religious
organization,
engages with the young people who attend its place of worship, or live in its
community. Youth
ministry will usually encompass one or more of the following:
* Encouraging young
people who profess a faith in Catholicism to learn more about it and become
more
involved in spiritual life.
* Allow young
people who have an interest in learning more about Catholicism an environment to
learn.
* Providing open
youth clubs or other activities for the common good of the young people,
sometimes
without an overtly religious agenda.
As well as organizing events and activities, youth ministry will usually include
some form of religious
education and a pastoral oversight of the young people.
The aim of this website is that it becomes a
resource for all those who are working within youth ministry. To help with
planning session, the policies and procedures that should be adhered to, as well
as offering support and prayers for each other through the chat board.
This website will also keep you in touch with other events happening within the
local area that young people might be interested in. CDYP also creates
opportunities for young people to come together on a larger scale, and to
develop a sense of identity of being a Catholic in the wider Catholic community
and the community at large.
